With your welcome information, you will receive information that will help us plan for your session. I KNOW this is the most daunting part of your session but it’s really important for us to work together, maybe push a little outside of the box, and select outfits that work well together. After all, these photo’s will be on your walls for years to come!!!!
I recommend going one of two ways when putting together outfits. Neutral colors if we are shooting in a field (creams, grays, rose, peach/coral, pastels, whites… and occasionally a few blacks), OR an eclectic, patchwork, funky “Anthropologie” – like color scheme. I prefer to let clothing & accessories compliment, rather than take over photographs, so that my subjects truly shine through, not their clothing.
If you are set on a brighter color scheme, we need to really make a game plan for a location that fits. This CAN work in a field, but colors should still be muted and not NEON. I repeat, color will take over your photo’s, it will. Please do NOT try to MATCH outfits for a whole family and and forget about khakis or polo skirts, or black t-shirts. Colors are great, and coordinating is key. Don’t match, throw in some textures and different colors. Layering, even the same neutral color scheme, in various textures & accessories can completely make the photo. The same is true for babies. Something very simple in terms of textures, tones, and colors, or even just their sweet little diapered bottoms (especially newborns who are naked most of their session). Well fitting clothing that you feel comfortable in is always most important.
